The village of Podbanske is the gateway to
the Western part of the High Tatras (940 m above sea level). It is located
in a tranquil area surrounded by forest and overlooked by the majestic
Tatras peak named Krivan (2494 m). The untouched nature and fascinating
fauna and flora in this area provide unforgettable experiences for
visitors.
Podbanske is one of the smallest of the Tatra ski resorts, 32 km from Stary
Smokovec and 13 km from Strbske Pleso. The Ski area is a location favored
mainly by beginners and families with small children. School ski trip
organizers find the small vertical drop and ideal place to introduce
learners to the art of skiing. There are three ski lifts providing a
capacity of 1,150 lifts per person each hour. The area has excellent snow conditions and virtually
no queuing to use the facilities the whole of the year round.
