Invitation

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is my great pleasure to invite you to participate on the International Conference on Electrical Discharges with Liquids (ICEDL 2016), the third annual meeting of COST Action TD1208 “Electrical Discharges with liquids for Future Application”. The purpose of the COST Action TD1208 annual meetings is to bring together researchers of different fields, in order to establish an open forum for presentation and discussion of the latest advances in the field of electrical discharges with liquids. Please note that the meeting is open to non-members of the COST Action.

The meeting will take place at Kocaeli University Physics Department from the 13th to the 17th March 2016. Accommodation for all attendants has been pre-reserved in the THE NESS Hotel, The conference will include sessions for the different Working Groups of the Action, related with discharges in liquid phase, Gas discharges interaction with liquids, Basic processes and numeric modeling, Applications in water treatment, Biomedical applications, Applications in nanoscience and surface treatment and Applications in organic chemistry.

The 3rd Annual meeting of COST Action TD1208 will be held in Kocaeli. The city is a province east of the Marmara Sea and the Marmara Region which connects Asia and Europe. Research has shown that people from eras beyond history have lived in and around Izmit, which is the junction of the world's most important roads, since 3000 B.C. The first evidences of Izmit, in which people have continued to dwell to this day, can be traced back to the 12th century B.C. Although Kocaeli is known as an industrial town it is also a town where serious ventures are taking place to become a city of culture, art and education. The town's own special local delicacy, Pişmaniye, is famous worldwide. Kocaeli is neighbour of Istanbul. Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey and is among the 25 largest urban areas in the world. It is located on the Bosphorus Strait and covers the entire area of the Golden Horn - a natural harbor. Because of its size, Istanbul extends into both Europe and Asia. The city is the world’s only metropolis to extend into more than one continent. The city of Istanbul is important to geography because it has a long history that spans the rise and fall of the world's most famous empires.

We are looking forward to welcoming you in Kocaeli!
